Passenger rail / ticketing systems (regulated industry)

Rail ticket booking and sales system

A booking and sales system for Russia's first private premium passenger train. A small outsourced team ran the full cycle — development, testing, and mandatory industry certification — with integration into the national rail carrier's infrastructure.

Before a new private premium train with no ticket sales system of its own and no access to the industry's ticketing infrastructure

After its own certified booking and sales system, integrated with the national carrier and launched into commercial operation

Key outcome

The carrier launched its own ticketing system, cleared to operate in a strictly regulated industry.

Context

A new private premium passenger carrier was entering the market and needed its own ticket booking and sales system.

The key challenge

The task went beyond development: to sell tickets, the system had to integrate with the national carrier’s infrastructure and pass mandatory industry certification — the strict requirements of a regulated sector, with a high cost of error, since without clearance sales are impossible.

My role

Lead developer and architect in a small outsourced team. I carried the project through the full cycle — design, development, testing and certification at a state railway-transport research institute — ensuring compliance with industry standards and correct integration with the carrier’s ticketing infrastructure.

The solution

A certified rail ticket booking and sales system, integrated with the national carrier’s infrastructure and cleared for production use after mandatory testing.

Results

The system passed certification and went live after completing mandatory industry testing. A small team handled the full cycle, from design to certified launch, in a strictly regulated industry.

Why this matters for my clients

This experience shows that I bring a product to launch where the stakes are high: mandatory certification, integration with critical infrastructure and strict industry requirements.
