Cloud automation platform for fitness club chains

A cloud-native, microservices platform automating the full operating cycle of a fitness club and chain: mobile apps, subscription billing, front-desk operations, and analytics. I took it from my own code and an MVP to raising investment and leading the team.

Before fitness chains hit a ceiling — software was slow, scaled poorly, and ran standalone only

After a cloud microservices platform that grows with the chain — ~10,000 active members and ~50,000 served over 5 years

Key outcome

The business gained a cloud platform that became the foundation of the chain’s growth and scales without changing its technology base.

Context

Fitness chains had hit the ceiling of existing software: it ran standalone, scaled poorly and held growth back. Technology was becoming a ceiling, not a foundation.

The key challenge

The chain needed a platform that not only handled today’s operations but stayed the foundation of the business as it grew. The cost of getting it wrong was high: switching platforms again would mean stalled growth and significant expense.

My role

Technical co-founder, architect and head of engineering. Early on I built the first working version myself, then formed the engineering team and owned the product’s technical direction — from architecture to scaling and preparing for investment.

The solution

Instead of local software, we built a cloud platform that let the chain run all its key processes in one system and grow without changing its foundation. It covers subscription billing, the front-desk workspace, mobile apps for members and trainers, and analytics, with integrations into payments, access control and telephony.

Results

The platform has run in production for more than five years and keeps evolving. Today it serves around ten fitness clubs and about 10,000 active members; some 50,000 people have passed through the system in total. On this foundation the company raised investment and grew into a team under my technical leadership. Business model: licensing plus a share of the chain’s turnover.

Why this matters for my clients

This experience shows that I take a product from its first technical decisions to a sustainable business — with a team, investment and ownership of the outcome, not just the code.
